X-Factor sponsors "Talk Talk" have been reported to watchdogs for failing to TALK to customers.

An MP claims the communication giant deliberately IGNORES customers making complaints to its call centre.

Labour MP Rosie Cooper has tabled a House of Commons question accusing the firm of "outrageous" customer service.

The West Lancashire MP is on the warpath over the case of a pensioner left without a vital life-or-death phone link by Talk Talk for almost a month.

The frail 93-year woman from Skelmersdale, Lancs, relies on a panic button phone connection to alert carers in the event that she suffers injury or ill-health.

Talk Talk, who have more than 5million subscribers, have invested in a multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Simon Cowell's X-Factor.

But Miss Cooper is furious that the firm have failed to respond to her complaints despite logging a series of calls to its service centre in Delhi, India.

Miss Cooper said: "My constituent has been left stranded by Talk Talk since mid-September.

"She is a frail, elderly lady who has recently had hospital treatment and could need assistance at any moment.

"Leaving her without a phone deprives her of a vital lifeline and puts intolerable strain on her family.

"She relies on the phone for a panic button and it's outrageous she has been left in this position.

"We contacted Talk Talk and on a dozen occasions and were always promised that someone would ring back to sort-out the matter. I am still waiting.

"My research shows that Talk Talk are quite notorious for this kind of inept and inefficient customer service and its high time they were brought to book."

The MP has lodged a complaint about Talk Talk with Ofcom and has put down written questions to the Consumer Affairs Minister Edward Davey calling on him to penalise Talk Talk for failing to meet standards for customer service.

Miss Cooper: "It's sickening to see Talk Talk spending millions of pounds in sponsoring X-Factor when at the same time they leave a vulnerable lady without a phone for weeks.

"I've lost count of the number of times I have been promised return phone calls, yet recieved none.

"For a company called Talk Talk it's not just ironic, it's sheer hypocrisy."
