Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O’Driscoll set to take charge of Burnley

Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O’Driscoll is to be appointed as Burnley’s new manager.

The Doncaster boss joined the South Yorkshire side in 2006 leading them to the Championship after winning the League One play-off final against Leeds in 2008.

It seemed at one stage that former Sheffield Wednesday boss, Brian Laws – who started his playing career at Turf Moor – was the favourite after he had been interviewed for the job.

He has been offered the role after concluding talks with the club to take over the position left vacant by Owen Coyle's departure to Bolton.

Doncaster and Burnley will now thrash out a compensation package.
