Coleen Rooney has given birth to her first child - a baby boy named Kai Wayne Rooney - according to unofficial sources at the Liverpool Women's Hospital.
Both mother and baby are said to be doing well after the birth which happened at 1.45pm in a delivery room at the specialist NHS Hospital weighing a healthy 8lbs 2 oz.
Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney, 24, is thought to have named his baby son after one of his best pals who is also named Kai.
An inside source said: "Wayne was a star with Coleen.
"He didn't leave her side from the moment she came into the hospital.
"When Col gave birth, Wayne's eyes welled up.
"As soon as he was handed the baby the tears began.
"He was over the moon and was saying "I can't believe it.'"
Rooney looks set to miss United's crunch Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow tomorrow night to be with his wife and child.
Coleen, 23, is expected to return home from the hospital tomorrow evening.
The family of both wayne and Coleen were in the hospital and Wayne's brother Stephen and cousin Clare arrived at the hospital an hour after birth clutching flowers.
The name Kai is said to be of Persian origin and is a word in the ancient Farsi language meaning "Great King" in its original form.
