Police have dropped their investigation into a bare-knuckle cage fight between two under-10 boys in Preston.
The event was stage at Greenlands New Labour Social Club and footage emerged on YouTube of the boys, aged 8 and 9, grappling as crowds looked on.
NSPCC officials branded the images "disturbing" but Lancashire Constabulary have ceased their inquiries.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We were aware that the mixed martial arts night was taking place but we were not aware that children were taking part.
"Having now looked into this matter fully there are no issues for us to pursue."
Parent Nick Hartley said his son, Kian, enjoyed taking part in the event which was "not one bit dangerous; there was no punching, kicking or striking".
British Medical Association experts voiced their concern about the risk posed to the boys who were fighting without any protective head-gear.
A spokesperson said: "We believe there are many other sports, such as athletics, swimming, judo and football which do not pose the same threat of brain injury."
Greenlands club owner Michelle Anderson said people are bothered by the 'cage-fighting' name and the fight on 10th September has been blown out of proportion.
"It's just the name 'cage-fighting' that people are getting annoyed about. We hold boxing events and nobody's complained about kids fighting then."
