A 90-year-old man has been the victim of a robbery in his own home after befriending a stranger on a bus.
The offence took place between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday 15 June when the pensioner was walking alone in Blackpool town centre.
He was helped to a bus stop on Dickson Road by a stranger, and they both boarded the 5.15pm number one bus with him to Rossall Road and Beach Avenue in Cleveleys.
The offender got off the bus with his victim once at Cleverleys, and both men then made their way to the old man’s home.
Once inside, the offender forcibly stole money from the elderly gentleman before fleeing the area.
DS Alex Myers said: "The offence is particularly nasty due to the offender targeting and befriending a 90 year old victim.
"The offender has been described as a dark skinned man who is in his 40's. He is of slim build; around six feet one inch tall and he spoke with southern, cockney accent.”
Anyone who may recognise the description above is urged to contact the police on 01253 876611, quoting log reference number LC-20110615-1408 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
