Driver dies in Lancashire traffic smash

A 31-year-old man has died after being airlifted to hospital following a traffic collision in Lancashire.

A white van and a HGV collided on St Michaels Road, Bilsborrow at around 9.20am today (Friday 17 June).

The 31 year old male driver was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital with a serious head injury but has sadly passed away.

The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Collision investigators are at the scene and the road is likely to remain closed until the investigation is complete.

Inspector Damian Kitchen said: "A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision is now underway and I would appeal to anybody who may have witnessed it to contact police.

"In particular I would like to appeal to the driver or occupants of a white vehicle which was in the area at the time of the collision who I believe may have witnessed it to come forward."
