Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a fire at an old illumination depot.

The incident happened on Rigby Road, in South Shore, Blackpool at around 10:30pm on Monday (14 June).

The road was closed whilst Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service put the fire out and dampened down the scene and the building has been declared structurally unsafe.

Once the site has been made safe, Crime Scene Investigators will carry out a thorough examination of the scene.

Police are keen to trace a man who was close to the scene walking his dog, another man who was riding a bike and also a man who was walking in the area.

DS Paddy Dowling, from Blackpool CID, said: "A joint investigation with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has been launched as we try and establish the cause of the fire. Once we are able to access the scene then a team of specialists will be carry out a full examination of it.

"I would appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and contact police. I am particularly keen to speak to the three people who I know were in the area. They are not suspects but they could have vital information that could assist the inquiry."

Anyone with information is asked to call Blackpool police on 01253 293933 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
