Police are appealing for information after a 14 year old boy was forced into a car as he walked to the shops in Morecambe yesterday.
The boy was walking down an alley way between Clarendon Road and Westminster Road at around 5:30pm Monday (13 June), when a man grabbed hold of him and pushed him into the back of a car.
The car began to drive away but as it reached Westcliffe Drive, the driver slowed the car to turn around the corner and the boy managed to let himself out and run away.
The boy ran to a nearby caravan park and called police.
DS Neil Esseen said: “This is an extremely rare incident and one that must have been terrifying for the teenager.
“He is unhurt but shaken and is being interviewed by specially trained officers.
The car involved was a five door saloon type vehicle, possibly a black Vauxhall Astra or similar.
The man has been described as around six feet two inches tall, of slim but muscular build with short, scruffy ginger hair.
He was wearing a blue or black hooded tracksuit top, a white Adidas t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms with what appeared to be a ‘V’ shaped emblem.
He also had his face covered by what appeared to be a hockey mask, with a blue and a red stripe.
DS Esseen added: “We are particularly keen to speak a young couple walking a Staffordshire Bull terrier who we believe were on Buckingham Road around the time the boy was being driven away.
“I would urgently ask those people to come forward. It is vital that we catch this man as quickly as possible and if anyone has any information, however small, please contact us.”
Anyone with any information can contact police on 01524 63333 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
