Police have released the evofit of a man suspected of attacking a cyclist.

The incident happened on Tuesday 10 May on Old Tram Road in Penwortham at around 1:15pm.

The victim, a 19 year old man from Bamber Bridge, had just collected a new bike from a local shop and was riding home along a cycle path.

He spotted three men with three dark coloured Staffordshire bull
terrier dogs coming towards him.

Two of the men moved out of the way to let him pass but the third man grabbed the bike and put the victim in a headlock and threatened to stab him, although no knife was ever produced.

A scuffle then pursued with the victim before the offender left the scene with the victim lying on the floor along with his bike.

Some cyclists passing by stopped to help the victim and the police were notified.

DC Donna Brown, from South Ribble CID, said: "I would appeal to anyone who can identify the person in the evofit to come forward and contact police.

"The victim has been left shaken following his ordeal and it is important we find the person responsible. If anyone has any other information that may assist the investigation then I would ask them to contact police."

Anyone with information should call Lancashire police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
