A police raid on a house in Lancashire has uncovered a cannabis farm with an estimated £180,000.

Officers found 300 plants at the four bedroom property in Brierfield on Thursday 2 June.

Forensic enquiries are being carried out at the address on Massey Street in effort to identify those responsible.

Community Beat Manager PC Brian Magee said: “This was an extremely sophisticated commercial cultivation operation which had clearly been in place for some time.

“The cannabis ranged from seedlings to mature plants, some of which were up to 7ft tall.

“We are aware of concerns about drugs in the area after residents raised the issue at a local PACT meeting and I hope this action reassures people that the police are committed to working with communities to remove drugs from our streets.”

Anyone with information or concerns about drugs can contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
