A 25 year old man was attacked by two muggers after being forced to withdraw money from a cash machine.

The incident took place on Euston Road, Lancaster as the man walked home from a night out with friends.

He was approached by two men at 4am and was forced to withdraw £60 from the cash machine at Santander.

As the victim walked around the corner he was then punched and kicked by the same two men, before they stole a gold chain and an iPhone.

DC Brian Shepherd said: “This was a particularly nasty assault on a lone man, and we need to find the people responsible.”

Police are keen to trace two men seen on CCTV at the junction of Victoria Street and Market Street around the time of the incident.

“If anybody was in the area at the time or has any information about this incident, then I am keen to speak with them.”

“I would also like to speak with anybody who may recognise either or both of the men captured on CCTV around the time of the incident.”

The two men are described as being in their 20s, with short dark hair and distinctive Irish accents.

Anybody with any information is asked to call police on 08451 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
