Police have set up an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of suspected stolen property in a bid to reunite it with their owners.

The property, including electrical items, tools, jewellery and other valuables, was seized during raids carried out as part of Operation Loreley - a major crackdown on acquisitive crime in Burnley.

Officers have been able to identify the owners of some items but a number are still unclaimed.

Detective Sergeant Pauline Tyrell, Burnley CID, said: “We have been cross referencing the items with those which have been reported to us as stolen, but a significant amount of the seized property still needs to be returned to those who rightfully own it.

“We have selected the specific items photographed in the hope that someone may be able to identify them and would urge anyone who recognises the items pictured to contact police.”

“Having property stolen is a costly inconvenience and can also have the added blow of seeing you lose sentimental items.

“We want to reunite owners with their property and hope that many of these items will now be claimed.”

Anyone wishing to claim property should contact 01706 237313.

Anyone with information or concerns about crime can contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
