A Preston community radio station has been nominated for a prestigious gong at the Sony Radio Academy Awards.
yOur Preston FM has been shortlisted for Best Community Programming.
The award nomination came in recognition of ‘Divided We Fall’ the station's radio drama serial which looks at the contemporary issues of violent extremism and how young people can get sucked into it.
The series was produced by Mannmade productions, working alongside Preston community organization Shahbash and volunteers at yOur Preston FM, which aired the series in February 2010.
Richard Lace, Project Manager for yOur Preston FM said the nomination was a true honour.
He said: "The Sony Radio Academy Awards are the Oscars of the radio industry and it is an honour to have been nominated.
"Working on a creative project to address some difficult issues was incredibly rewarding.
"The nomination is testament to the quality of our programming, and the hard work and talent of our volunteers."
The award winners will be announced on the evening of Monday, May 9th at The Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
