Cannabis with an estimated street value of more than £15,000 has been discovered at a house in Burnley.

Officers uncovered the factory on Monday 21st March at an address on Colne Road, after an anonymous tip off.

Community Beat Manager PC Ivan Brown said: “The plants were all ready to be broken down to go onto the streets.

"They would have been extremely valuable to the owner and would have brought in a significant income.

“I am thankful to the member of the public who brought the matter to our attention, and I urge the community to continue to contact us with information or concerns about drug crime so we can take action.”

No-one was present in the house at the time of the raid and investigations continue to find out who is responsible. All plants and equipment have been removed from the house and destroyed.

Anyone with information can contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

If cannabis were legal the govt could have pocketed £3,000 VAT from the sale of this and even more if they applied duties similar to alcohol

An absurd waste of police time and resources. Six million people in Britain use cannabis regularly. Why not tax and regulate? It makes sense
