Police have released a photo-fit of man suspected of armed robbery, in which a mobile phone was stolen.

A 19-year-old from Burnley claims he was walking along Eastern Avenue on the 8th January at around 8:15pm, when he was approached by three Asian men who blocked his path.

They ordered the teenager to give them his phone, but he initially denied he had one.

At which point, a man who he described as 5ft 6 inches tall, 17-18 years old, slim build with black gelled hair, brandished a gun.

He then handed over his HTC Wildfire device.

DC Ian McLean, from Burnley CID, warned that due to the offence in question, anyone who recognises this man should not approach him.

He said: “This is an extremely serious offence, which involved the use of a real or imitation firearm.

“I would urge people to take a close look at the Evofit, and if anyone thinks they recognise him to contact the police.”

“I would also like to reassure people that offences of this nature involving any form of firearm are very rare and there have been no other reports of any similar incidents.”

Anyone with information on the man can contact Burnley CID on 01282472240, or report it anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
