A Lancashire rapist who attacked a woman in her own home has been jailed for seven years.

Krystian Rak, 29, was found guilty of raping the woman, who is in her fifties but cannot be named for legal reasons, at a trial at Preston Crown Court in November last year.

Rak, of Stansfeld Street, Blackburn, had called at his victim's home when the attack took place in May 2010.

He was sentenced to seven years behind bars after appearing at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday.

Following the sentencing, Lancashire Police's Detective Inspector Mark Winstanley said: "This was an extremely serious and violent offence which has quite rightly resulted in a lengthy custodial sentence for the offender.

"Rak is a dangerous man who attacked this lady in her own home at a time when she was particularly vulnerable."

He added: "Rape is a very serious offence which can have devastating effects on the victim.

"The victim in this case is recovering well and I am pleased that she has had the confidence to come forward and report this incident to the police.

"Lancashire Constabulary is committed to ensuring that such offences are subject to a thorough investigation and that victims are afforded the best possible care and support throughout the investigative process, both by specially trained police officers and other care providers."
