
A murder investigation has been launched after a young woman was found dead in East Lancashire.
Police discovered the 24-year-old's body at a house on Hawley Street, in the town of Colne, just after midnight on Wednesday morning.
A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary confirmed the death is being treated as suspicious and a cordon remains in place at the scene.
It is not yet known how the victim, who is yet to be identified, died.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Neil Hunter, said: "At this stage we are at the very early stages of an inquiry.
"We have a team of detectives working to establish how this woman died.
"Should anyone have been in the area last night, specifically in or around Centaur Court, and who may have witnessed something or have information that can assist the enquiry then I would ask them to contact us."
