Police launch murder hunt over death of Lancashire pensioner

Murder squad detectives in Lancashire were quizzing two men and a woman after an elderly man was found dead at a house in Blackburn.

The body of Albert Fielding, 80, was found by police who were called to his a flat in Preston New Road at around 11:20am on Friday (22nd Oct).

Crime scene investigators and specialist forensic scientists spent the day at the property in Limefield Court and an incident roome was opened at Greenbank Police Station.

Lancashire Police said two men, aged 39 and 46, and a 45-year-old woman, all from Blackburn, were arrested on suspicion of murder and were being held for questioning.

The man leading inquiries, Det Supt Neil Hunter said: “I would appeal for anyone who was in contact with Mr Fielding over the past few days to come forward and contact us.

“I am keen to speak to any friends or associates that knew Mr Fielding to come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who has visited his house recently. Their information could be vital as we piece together what happened.

“I would like to reassure the public that we have a team of dedicated officers working on this investigation as try to establish exactly what happened.

“Understandably this is a very difficult time for Mr Fielding’s family and we have dedicated family liaison officers supporting them.”
