Lancs police deliver "Operation Fasten" security message

East Lancashire residents are being reminded to secure their homes and cars as part of a crime prevention drive in the region.

Operation Fasten will see officers patrol neighbourhoods throughout Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale at all times of the day and night looking for homes and cars which have been left insecure or with property on view in reach of a would be thieves.

PCSOs will be knocking on people’s doors in areas which have been targeted by burglars to remind people about the importance of keeping windows and doors locked and to deter any would be burglars from committing any further offences.

Crime Prevention Officer PC Phil Buck said: “These visits are designed to make people stop and think about how to protect their homes and cars by taking a very few simple steps including making sure that windows and doors are closed and locked throughout the day and night.

“I want to reassure people that burglary in Lancashire is low but we want to keep it that way. Residents have a crucial part to play to make it difficult for thieves to operate.”
