A children's charity in Lancashire is to benefit from unclaimed property thanks to local police.
Officers have donated a bicycle, a photo frame, children’s art equipment, brand new bedding, computer games, in-car DVD players, a television and a number of smaller items to Barnardo’s.
The property, which has either been unclaimed by the owners or seized from criminals as part of police investigations, was handed over to the charity last week and has been distributed to charity shops in the region.
Property Officer for Eastern Division Mel Waddington said: “This property would otherwise have to be destroyed and so I am delighted that we could offer it to help this extremely worthwhile cause.”
Barnardo’s Assistant Director Retail North, Paul Guest, adds: “We are thrilled that this property has come to Barnardo’s rather than being destroyed.
"It will now be put to good use, raising much-needed funds for our vital work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children.”
