Armed robbery at Lancashire Spar

POLICE are appealing for information after a robbery at a Spar shop in Talbot Drive, Euxton, on the evening of Tuesday 14th September.

At around 9.30pm, two men wearing balaclavas with hoods up threatened staff with a knife and demanded money.

The pair then attempted to prise open the till, before escaping with a small quantity of cash and a packet of cigarettes.

Although neither of the two female workers were hurt, both were left shaken by the incident.

No customers were in the shop at the time of the robbery.

The first man was around 5ft 8 inches tall, of stocky build with pale skin and spoke in a local accent, wearing a black balaclava, a black and grey chequered hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a glove on his right hand, and a clear plastic glove on his left, carrying a large bread knife.

The second man is around 5ft 6, of slim build, wearing a black balaclava and a black hooded top with a turquoise t-shirt underneath.

He too was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

DI Paul Rudd from Chorley CID said: "This is a serious offence where a shopkeeper was threatened with a knife.

"I would urge anyone with any information about this robbery to contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
