Police in Lancashire are hunting a statue thief after three bronze figures were stolen from a park in Preston.

The distinctive figures, two hounds and a wild boar, were taken some time between 5pm on Friday 9th July and 7am on Monday 12th July from the park at Hereford Grove in Cottam.

Detectives believe the statues, worth in the region of £12,000 to £15,000, were stolen using some kind of cutting device.

PC Olivia Hewitt said: “These are really distinctive statues and somebody, somewhere must know of their whereabouts.

“I would appeal to anybody who has any information about the theft of these statues, which belong to Preston City Council, to contact police immediately.”

A Preston City Council spokesman said: “Unfortunately some of our statues were stolen from the Cottam area last month.

“This has sadly happened before and the cost of replacing them is not cheap, estimated to be around £12,000 to £15,000.

“If anyone does have any information about the incident they are urged to contact the police.”

Anybody with any information should contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
