A burglar who stole more than £7,000 worth of jewellery from a Lancaster antique shop is being hunted by police.

The thief broke in to GB properties, Lancaster Leisure Park, Wyresdale Road, at around 10pm on July 28, after smashing a window to gain access to the property.

The offender then removed a number of pieces of antique jewellery from a wooden cabinet before fleeing the scene.

Among the stolen haul was a £900 gold chain with a locket to keep sovereigns in and a £1,200 heavy gold chain with a diamond encrusted flower shaped pendant.

DC Colin Forsyth, Lancaster CID, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have been approached by someone selling a large amount of jewellery, or something resembling these two quite distinctive items."

Anyone with information should contact police on 01524 63333.
