Southport has become fully accredited by the conference and meetings industry standard AIM through its high quality service delivery in business tourism.
The industry-wide benchmark, which is implemented by the Meetings Industry Association recognises organisations in the provision of conferences and events that are operating to a high standard, both legally and ethically.
The Southport Theatre and Convention Centre completed its assessment last week, joining the area’s convention bureau Southport Conferences and the remainder of its associated venues, including the Ramada Plaza, Vincent Hotel, Scarisbrick Hotel, The Royal Clifton Hotel & Spa, The Prince of Wales Hotel, Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa and Aintree Racecourse.
New council cabinet member for leisure and tourism in Sefton, Mike Booth said; “This is a major coup for Southport and all of its associated venues. The AIM scheme is a widely recognised quality standard throughout the meetings and conference industry and as such Southport has put a lot of time and investment into implementing it destination-wide.”
He continued; “On average business visitors spend three times as much as leisure guests so it is very important to the local economy that we continue to attract them to the resort. Following schemes such as AIM ensures that Southport’s high quality facilities are matched with the same high quality service delivery that we strive to provide and our business tourism offering can continue to grow and develop.”
