Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg will be in Burnley tomorrow to underline his party's committment to revitalising parts of Lancashire.
As part of the Liberal Democrat's new 'Revitalising our Industrial Heartlands' document, Clegg will underline his party's committment to give local councils a key role in working with manufacturing businesses in the likes of Burnley to re-balance the economy.
Under Liberal Democrat plans, Clegg says: "Top Civil Servants with responsibility for manufacturing and wider industrial policies could be moved to Northern towns like Burnley.
"They will oversee a major infrastructure investment programme to bring empty homes back into use, to restore vital transport links and to develop green technology"
Clegg will be at the Moorhouses Brewery on Moorhouse Street in Burnley at 1.30pm tomorrow to meet with Company Directors and see how the company's manufacturing facilities are expanding, leading to the creation of new jobs in the area.
Liberal Democrat plans will see a change in the devolution of financial and political power that will give local councils a key role in working with manufacturing businesses.
They claim this will help re-balance the economy away from an over-reliance on financial services, based in the City, and lead the country out of recession.
