Police are hunting an armed gang who tied up and robbed a woman in her own home.
The incident happened on Friday 13th January at around 11:45am at an address on Worthy Street in Chorley.
Three men forced their way in to the victim's house before making demands for money and jewellery. The woman was then tied by the hands and feet with tape and threatened with a knife.
The offenders eventually managed to make off with a large amount of jewellery.
Police are keen to trace a car that was seen in the area during the time of the robbery. A dark-green Nissan Serena which came from the direction of the house was seen on Buchanan Street at the same time of the incident.
During inquiries, officers have been contacted by a woman who spotted a mid-sized van parked outside the victim's address.
The driver was believed to be a man in his 40’s and at the time on his mobile telephone. Police believe that this man may have vital information that could help identify the robbers.
Detective Constable John Pearce from Chorley CID said, “This is a nasty robbery where the victim was threatened with a knife and has been bound and gagged during a terrifying ordeal.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and who may have witnessed something or who spotted the Nissan car to come forward and contact the police.
"I am also keen to speak to the man in the van who was parked outside the property at the same time as the attack.
“We have a team of officers working on this investigation and would appeal to anyone with information to get in touch,”
Anyone with information is asked to call Chorley CID on 101. They can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
