Two men have been jailed for a total of 13 years for conspiring to supply class A drugs across the North West.

It comes after three other men, involved in the same drug racketing operation which police smashed in February 2011, we jailed for a total 16 years.

Jonathan Blackburn, 32, of Liverpool, was jailed for five years and eight months after earlier pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Gary Cluskey, 37, Lancashire, was given a seven years and four months custodial sentence for pleading guilty to the same offence while Stephen Spiers, 28, was given a 12-month community order and 200 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply class C drugs.

The men were sentenced at Preston Crown Court following an investigation by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (TITAN).

Detective Inspector Andy Black from TITAN said: “These individuals had an adverse affect on the communities of Lancashire and Cumbria through their supply of drugs.

“Now that these individuals are behind bars, I believe it has left the communities safer places to live.”

The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by TITAN which brings together the six regional police forces to create a specialist task force that targets serious organised crime across county borders.

As part of the investigation, drugs with a street value of around £230,000 were seized.
Half a kilogram of cocaine, one kilo of amphetamine, 8,700 benzylpeperazine tablets and temazepam were found.

Lee Ormandy, 39, Richard Painter, 32, Michael McCue, 21, were jailed earlier in the week for conspiracy to supply class A, class B and class C drugs.

A further seven men are due to be sentenced on Monday 5th December as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information about drugs in their community can contact their local police or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
