Police investigating the death of a baby boy found dead in Kirkham have launched a Facebook campaign to try and trace the mother.
Officers have also recorded a direct video appeal to the baby’s mum which will appear on Lancashire Constabulary’s Youtube page.
Force Major Investigation team Det Insp Martin Clague said: “Things like Youtube, Facebook and other social network sites are part of people’s everyday lives.
“By using them we can hopefully reach some people, and maybe even the mother herself, that we haven’t through our other appeals.
“Our main priority is still to trace the mother of the baby boy and we would urge her to come forward so that we can offer them the support they may need.”
The body of the baby boy was found on Saturday, 1st October in Spen Brook, a few hundred yards away from the Boys Brigade Club on Carr Lane in Kirkham.
Police believe the boy was a full term baby.
Anyone with any information that could assist this investigation is asked to call the Major Incident Room at Blackpool Police Station on 08451 25 35 45.
