Two brothers from Burnley have been jailed for over ten years after admitting their involvement in an illegal heroin racket.
Mohammed Haider Rasool, 23 of Claughton Street, was jailed for five years and one month and Mohammed Omar Rasul, 27 also of Claughton Street, was sentenced to five years and four months.
Both men appeared at Burnley Crown Court on Friday 28th October after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin at an earlier hearing on Tuesday 2nd August 2011.
Their sister Amna Rasul, 29 of Cleaver Street, was given a 12 month suspended sentence after she pleaded guilty to allowing her three houses to be used for the supply of the drug.
All three were arrested after a lengthy police investigation between December 2010 and February 2011.
Officers discovered around 570 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of £33,000 hidden under the bedroom floorboards at an address on Colbran Street.
DS Martin Kennedy from Pennine Division’s Targeted Crime Team said: “This was a significant and lucrative drug dealing network.
“I hope this sentence sends a very clear message to those people who are involved in dealing drugs, that the police will do everything within their power to bring them to justice.
”Tackling Class A drugs is a key priority for Lancashire Constabulary. Our communities have told us that they do not want people who deal drugs to live among them and people should be reassured that we listen to their concerns and will take action.”
