Police are hunting a callous thug who throttled a partially-sighted woman in Blackpool.

The incident happened on Monday night as the 45-year-old made her way across a car park just off Central Drive.

The man approached his victim from behind, grabbing her by the neck before carrying out his assault.

A small amount of cash was stolen from the victim as well as the white walking stalk she uses to help with her disability.

DC Liam Davy, of Lancashire Police said, “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward and contact us.

“This was a cowardly, unprovoked attack on a lone, partially-sighted woman and the person responsible needs to be caught and brought to justice.”
