
A murder investigation is underway after a man and a woman were stabbed at a house in Blackburn.
Police were called by the ambulance service to an address on Heys Close at around 7.50am on Friday 7 October.
On arrival, officers found 46 year old Neil Ryan and his wife Debbie Ryan, 41, suffering from stab wounds.
Sadly Mr Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mrs Ryan was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A post mortem examination confirmed Mr Ryan died as a result of a single stab wound to his upper body.
An 18 year old man from Blackburn who was arrested in connection with the incident is now in a secure hospital undergoing a full mental health assessment.
DS Ian Critchley said: "A murder investigation is now underway and we have a team of detectives working to establish the circumstances around this incident.
"We also have specialist officers who are supporting family members at this incredibly difficult time.
