Professional dancers from the Royal Ballet School are to pirouette among white-knuckle rollercoaters at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
The school, which is one of the most prestigious for dance in the world, will leave its London base and head north for a day of classes with local schools.
Inside The Globe Theatre, a large and modern venue inside the amusement park, dancers will showcase their talent for the PrimarySTEPS programme.
Children aged 7 to 8 years old will be introduced to ballet from a total of five local primary schools and will head to the Pleasure Beach for a variety of classes presented by The Royal Ballet School.
Amanda Thompson, Pleasure Beach Managing Director, said: "I’m delighted to welcome back the Royal Ballet School to Pleasure Beach. Working with the local community is very important to us so to be able to host five local schools for the workshops is fantastic."
The programme was introduced in 2008 following a partnership between Bispham High School and The Royal Ballet School which recognised talented dancers from the Lancashire school.
The Pleasure Beach is providing its venue free of charge in a bid to inspire children to take up the dance.
The park has for many years ran its own shows including the award winning Hot Ice Show and the acclaimed Forbidden in partnership with its theatre production company, Stageworks Worldwide Productions.
The schools, Anchorsholme Primary, Devonshire Primary School, Bispham Endowed Primary, Layton Primary and Revoe Community School, will join the Royal Ballet School on 6th October at 1pm for the special workshop.
In total, 400 students will join in on the day. For further press information please call the Press Office on 01253 336329 or email: daniel.thompson@bpbltd.com
