Police have released an Evofit of a man they want to trace following the attempted abduction of a teenager in Preston.

The 15 year old girl was walking to school along Croston Road at about 8.25am when she was approached by a man driving a dark coloured four door car.

The man wound down the passenger window and spoke to the girl, offering her a lift to school.

She refused and walked on but the car turned and again approached her. The man this time wound down the driver's window and again said he would take her to school.

When she again refused, the man stopped the car and ran up and grabbed her by her right arm.

She managed to push him off and ran into an alleyway where she hid for a few minutes before making her way to school, shaken but unhurt, where she reported the incident.

DI John Entwisle, of Leyland Police, said: "Fortunately incidents of this nature are rare and a full investigation is underway.

"I would ask people to take a close look at the Evofit and if anyone thinks they can put a name to the face I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.

The offender was described as a white man, aged in his late 40s or early 50s, 5ft 10ins tall with a local accent.

He was skinny with broad shoulders and straight, greasy, black hair down past his ears with a wave or curl at the front.

He was wearing a black jacket, zipped up halfway and a white top underneath. He was also wearing grey woollen gloves.
