Lancashire based community radio station yOur Preston FM has been announced as the official People’s Guild Radio Station for Preston Guild 2012.
The station will be broadcasting specially programmed shows updating listeners with the latest news and information as well as promoting events on air as the city gears up for the celebrations for the 2012 Guild.
As part of the show’s programming, yOur Preston FM will be commissioning a major audio art project called ‘Scroll Up’. The idea behind the project is to invite Prestonians to specially devised workshops where they can produce their own ‘audio post cards’ from places which have a connection with Preston. The aim of Scroll Up is to invite people to create their own personal legacy to the Guild.
Richard Lace, Project Manager for yOur Preston FM said: “The Guild is an extremely special event for the people of Preston and we are honoured to be taking such a big part in it.
“As well as keeping all the people of Preston up to date with how the celebrations are progressing, yOur Preston FM is giving all the people of Preston the opportunity to leave their lasting mark on the Preston Guild 2012.
“The Scroll Up project will allow people to create their own Sound Post Cards from around the world, celebrating the diversity of the City’s past and present population.”
yOur Preston FM will be producing a very special Guild show which will air every first Thursday at 4pm and is available as a podcast from the yOur Prescap website www.yourprescap.org.uk.
Stella Hall, Guild Festival Director said: “We are delighted to be working with your Preston FM as our official People’s Guild Radio Station. The station’s links to the local community and creative approach will allow for a great monthly Guild Radio Programme.
“yOur Prescap is a perfect partner for the Guild, as they share our commitment to involving the community and encourage participation. We are also looking forward to showcase the output of our joint creative project, Scroll Up, which will follow the Guild Scrolls of Friendship around the world and capture sound bites from places with a Preston connection for the Guild celebrations.”
