Prescot festival is inviting singers to be part of its 10-day programme of music.
The Prescot Festival of Music and the Arts, based in the historic Lancashire town of Prescot, is welcoming acoustic singers, musicians and songwriters for an open mic session at the Clock Face pub on Wednesday, 23rd June, when special guests will be Phil Jones and Gary Potter.
If classical is more your thing, however, a “Come & Sing” performance of Mendelssohn’s cherished choral work Elijah on Saturday, 19th June, takes place in the 17th-century Prescot Parish Church, which celebrates its 400th anniversary this year.
The less musical can always put on their walking boots and bring along with the family the following Saturday to take part in the Prescot Prize Trail.
“There are always ways you can be part of the Festival,” said Artistic Director Dr Robert Howard, who is also Head of Music at Deyes High School in Maghull. “In past years, we’ve had talent contests and sing-along movie musicals for those who want to join in the fun.”
Concerts this year include an evening of jazz with big band Swingshift and a guest organ recital by Liverpool Cathedral’s Professor Ian Tracey, who began his musical career in Prescot.
