A talented Lancashire performer is proving he has the 'X Factor' with visitors to Knowsley Safari Park.

Californian sea lion Reggie is settling in well as the Merseyside wildlife park having moved from his home at Blackpool Zoo.

And the ten-month-old cub has been welcomed with open flippers by resident sea lions Max, Biffo and Arthur as part of the 'fishy fab four' entertainment.

Safari Park General Manager, David Ross, said: "When Reggie first arrived our trainer Ellie Shurlock had to give him plenty of tender loving care as it was his first time away from home.

"However, our three original sea lions welcomed him and he now seems to be very happy to be the centre of so much attention.

Reggie has also proved to be a very quick learner and has already picked up how to do a number of tricks and routines in the act.

David added: "Currently he¹s making a special guest appearance towards the end of the show and the 'aah factor' is tremendous - the audience absolutely love him which is great."

Knowsley¹s sea lions live next to the sea lion theatre in a £600,000 custom-built facility which was completed in 2008.

It includes a large pool, rocks, beaches and waterfall effects as well as an underwater viewing area which enables visitors to watch the sea lions antics throughout the day, not just at show times.

During the show, the sea lions perform ball balancing, ring catching, porpoising, and shark impressions.
