Wigan Athletic will be hoping to get their season back on track at Hartlepool United in the Carling Cup after making a shocking start in the Premier League.

The Latics have endured home humiliations at the hands of newcomers Blackpool and champions Chelsea 4-0 and 6-0 respectively.

Hartlepool will be looking to cause an upset and pile on the agony for beleaguered Latics manager Roberto Martinez.

Wigan are waiting for news of Maynor Figueroa ahead of the trip after the defender was carried off on a stretcher at the weekend.

The Honduras international twisted his ankle late on against Chelsea and is being assessed.

He will not feature at Hartlepool but forward Victor Moses (calf) is back in contention.

New signing Steven Caldwell is eligible after joining the club on a one-year deal.
