The 'Crimewatch Roadshow’ returns to BBC Daytime this week for a second series.
Ginny Buckley, former presenter of the BBC’s ‘Holiday’ programme joins Crimewatch’s Rav Wilding as they take to the road for a month of live programmes aimed at solving the type of crimes that can affect all of us – anything from vandalism and burglary to robbery, mugging and arson.
This week the show airs live from Lancashire, focussing on a wide range of cases including the search for a convicted armed robber who’s on the run, a 91 year old woman in Burscough who’s been repeatedly targeted by burglars and the police’s search for a suspected ‘Peeping Tom’ in Blackpool.
The team also get an exclusive look at the work of Lancashire’s Mounted Police Section and join the county’s Wildlife Unit on the hunt for deer poachers and badger baiters.
Police initiatives to clean up the region feature too, with a series of police raids on the addresses of suspected drug dealers living in the estates around Blackburn.
Alongside Rav and Ginny, each week BBC regional correspondents will report from each region, with local news teams providing campaign updates throughout the day via their regional news bulletins. For the first week in Lancashire, they will be joined by North West Tonight’s Social Affairs Correspondent, Dave Guest.
Last year there were a large number of arrests and as a direct result of calls into the studio, 17 criminals were identified and successfully prosecuted.
The series runs for four weeks, from Monday June 7th until Friday July 2nd.
