A Reverend from Burnley 'has rock and rolled his way  into the finals the 'Live and Unsigned' band competition.

The competition, judged on originality will be held at the Willows Arena, Manchester on March 29th.

The successful band will win a recording contract and the chance to release a fully marketed single.

There are 20 bands from the North West competing including band Kingsfin from Warrington.

Rocking reverend Philip Chew,a former vicar of St Stephen's Church formed the band 'Revisit' three years ago.

The band members, all in their 40s are, Philip (Lead Singer), Graham Chapel from Langho (guitar), Mark Hurlbut from Accrington (bass), and John Mayor from Darwen(drums).

Band Members are described by Philip as a cross between the character 'Frank' from TV series Shameless and punk rocker 'Vyvyan' from The Young Ones.

In March 2007 they released a single 'We're Under Attack'and in January this year they released their first album 'Killing England'.

Philip and Graham enjoyed limited success in the post punk era of the 1980s as part of the band Euro-K.

Mark, an optician and John a psychiatric nurse, toured the Norh West as members of the Blackburn-based band The Stiffs.

Revisit base their lyrics on moral issues,Philip says: "Music is a great way to spread a messaage.

"We want to make a difference to people's lives. People are very supportive of what we are doing. We're liked because we're not the average band.

"We're not what you'd expect from a vicar and a psychiatrist that's for sure."

Revisit believe in giving back to the community and perform at numerous free gigs around Burnley, Philip says: "We want to give something back to the community in Burnley."

The bands recent gigs include, Blackpool tower, the Thwaites Empire Theatre, in Blackburn and their next confirmed performance will be the Live and Unsigned finals.

"We really enjoy what we are doing, dressing up and spraying your hair green is great fun, I'm thankful I'm doing what I'm doing and I hope we can make our fans proud at the finals." added Philip.
