Fife’s favourite sons Sergeant are back with the first single released on their own label ‘Shy Recordings’.
Flying the Scottish flag for the true spirit of 'indie' music, Sergeant have rebelled against the confines of a major label and set up their own label.
Inspired by the artists and attitude of seminal Scottish 1980s label Postcard Records (Orange Juice, Aztec Camera), Sergeant have taken the 21st Century step of securing investment from a music fund to launch their own record label.
With three sold-out limited releases under their belt - ‘K-Ok’, ‘Swings & Roundabouts EP’ and ‘Swiftly Does It’ - the band return with one of the stand-out tracks from their live show.
‘Counting Down The Days’ comes from their as-yet-untitled debut album, recorded at Rockfield, Rak and Abbey Road studios with legendary producer John Leckie who has worked with Stone Roses, Radiohead and The Verve.
Sergeant have toured with Supergrass, The Fratellis, The View and Oasis and at the request of Noel Gallagher they were sole support on the recent Scottish Arena tour.
The Glenrothes foursome have gone on to woo crowds with sold-out headline shows across their native Scotland and gain critical acclaim from the Guardian, Clash and NME.
This Summer Sergeant bring their brand of jangly, pop to the rest of the UK, starting with a London gig at the Water Rats on 28th July.
'Counting Down The Days' is released on Monday 27th July on Shy Recordings.
