Latvian side FK Jelgava defeated Blackpool FC in a friendly run-out last night, crowning their first match at the brand new Zemgale Olympic Center with a victory against Premier League opposition.
Alegs Malasenoks and Vladislavs Koslous had given Jelgava a 2-0 lead at the break, and Blackpool could only reply through a Brett Ormerod header midway through the second half.
DJ Campbell played the full 90 minutes, with his most notable contribution coming from the cross that set up Ormerod's goal.
Matt Phillips, who signed on Tuesday, impressed in the first half but was replaced at the break.
Blackpool were playing a heavily weakened side missing six first-team regulars.
The game was played in front of a sell-out crowd of 1,783.
