Blackpool FC have wrapped up yet another deadline deal as Ghana international keeper Richard Kingson joins them on a one-year contract with the option for a further year.
He is the second World Cup star to arrive at the Seaside in a week, with Australia international David Carney penning a move to Bloomfield Road yesterday.
The stopper had an impressive World Cup campaign, helping Ghana through to the quarter finals where they were eventually defeated by Uruguay in a penalty shoot-out.
The 32-year-old has previously had spells in the Premier League with Birmingham City and more recently Wigan Athletic, but failed to nail down a regular starting place.
He will challenge Matt Gilks (who was recently called up to the Scotland international squad) for the number one jersey.
The move, that is subject to a work permit and the usual clearance from the Premier League and The FA, was completed on Tuesday afternoon.
Club Secretary Matt Williams explains,"We are currently waiting for confirmation of the player's work permit and the usual clearances from the FA and PL, but we are delighted to welcome Richard aboard."
Kingson is the 24th member of the Seasiders' 25 man squad, leaving one more place available for another squad member.
Nigeria international defender Danny Shittu is being heavily tipped to join the club following his release from Bolton Wanderers.
Three world cup stars in a week then... can't be bad!
