Blackpool FC have finally confirmed that a deal for Australia international David Carney has been finalised today, with the wing-back joining the club for an undisclosed fee from Dutch Champions FC Twente.

The 26-year-old has agreed a one year contract with an option for further year.

He flew into the UK on Tuesday afternoon to complete a medical and paperwork before heading off to Switzerland to link up with his national team ahead of Friday's friendly fixture in St Gallen.

Club secretary Matt Williams explained: "We got the e-mails back from FC Twente just before six so it was a mad dash to get them printed off and faxed over to the FA and Premier League, fortunately the confirmation came through on Wednesday morning and I was delighted to tell the Gaffer and Carns that the move had been given the green light."

On the move, David Carney told the club's official website, "It has been a busy 24 hours but I am delighted it is done now and I am looking forward to getting out there playing. The way Blackpool play suits me and I am looking forward to meeting the lads and getting started."
