The Queen was entertained in "reet-royal fashion" when a Royal Variety performance returned to Blackpool for the first time in more than half a century.
And with a gap of 54 years since the command performance was hosted at the Opera House there was a world of difference in the line-up.
In 1955 George Formby topped the bill in the twilight of his performing years and up-and-coming commedians Morecambe and Wise stole the show..
In 2009 all eyes were on outrageous pop star Lady Gaga who toned-down her normally raunchy performance for the Queen and Prince Phillip.
Gaga - famous for displaying her curvce in skimpy outfits - wore a red floor-length PVC gown with a 20ft long cloak for her performance.
Also sporting matching red eye make-up, she played a "floating" piano suspended on giant stilts as she performed her song "Speechless".
The New York-born artise mimicked the famous comment of John Lennon at the 1963 Palladium show as told the crowd: "Let me hear you rattle your jewellery!"
Others int he line-up for the annual showbiz jamboree included veteran comic Frank Carson and singers Lulu, Anastacia and Chaka Khan.
Also on stage was US teen star Miley Cyrus, who gyrated on stage clad in leather hotpants while performing her hit Party In The USA.
The Queen was also entertained by Hollywood actress Whoopi Goldberg who introduced the Sister Act cast, X Factor winner Alexandra Burke who performed her new single Broken Heels and Canadian crooner Michael Buble who sang Cry Me A River.
But dance troupe Diversity, who has won the right to perform as champions of Britain's Got Talent, stole the show with their frenetic routine.
* There were also reports that Lady GaGa was barred from performing a suicide act before the Queen.
GaGa who has rocketed success within 18 months was told not to perform a "harikari" routine in which she uses blood .
She was also issued with instructions about being presented to the Royal Family but was said to have become upset when she was told that her father would also be able to meet the Queen.
