Sir Elton John has cancelled his Echo arena concert.

The pop legend, who was forced to postpone a number of his original Red Piano tour dates last month after contracting flu and e-coli, has now announced that the gig will not be rescheduled.

The 62-year-old star, famous for hits including Your Song, Rocket Man, and Don't Let the Sun go Down on Me was set to finish touring the show Red Piano at the arena in October.

Disappointed fans will now be entitled to a full refund on their tickets.

Sir Elton’s management issued a statement which read: “Sadly, due to venue availability and the scale of the Red Piano shows they cannot be rescheduled and have now been cancelled.

“Elton has been overwhelmed by the tremendous loyalty and messages of support he has received and is terribly disappointed not to have been able to perform the shows.”

Ticket holders should apply to their point of ticket purchase for their refund.

The cancellation follows the announcement that Morrissey’s show at the Echo arena will not be rescheduled following an incident where he walked offstage after being struck by a drink thrown from the crowd.
