Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating being at the top of the recruitment table for another clinical trial.

The Research and Development Team, based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, have been working hard to recruit patients for the Stomach and Oesophageal Cancer Study (SOCS).

The Stomach and Oesophageal Cancer Study has been running in Blackpool since March 2010.

The study is collecting information to help find out more about possible causes of stomach cancer and oesophageal cancer that are related to individuals’ genetic makeup or surroundings

Michelle Stephens, Research and Development Manager, said: “We’d like to thank all our patients for volunteering their time for this study.

“It’s great to see that the dedication of the research and development staff and the patients involved with this trial are being acknowledged.

“The time and effort given by all the recruited patients enables the Trust to provide the highest standards of clinical research.”
