County Councillor Geoff Driver, leader of Lancashire County Council, said: "We want to find the best ways to engage with all our residents. Social media sites are an increasingly useful and cost effective way of sharing information and listening to people's views.
"These sites allow people to have their say about county council issues and get involved in the news, as well as find out what's going on.
"They're a great way of providing useful up-to-the-minute information on issues such as school closures and seasonal service updates including winter gritting.
"They can also help bring the news alive with pictures and videos. It's well worth visiting our pages to find out more."
