A charity that helps young people to rebuild their lives is growing with the support of Lancashire County Council.
The Partnership Team Ltd, which is based at the council-owned Lancashire Business Park in Leyland, works with schools, colleges and a wide range of organisations to ensure learners of all ages fulfil their potential.
The team has recently launched the Stepping Stones project, which helps ex-offenders gain the skills and knowledge they need to get a job and build a career.
Since the programme started, eighteen people have completed a full intensive training course.
This has led to three people securing full-time employment, six in part-time roles, six in volunteering placements and six in additional training.
Jackie Ettenfield, general manager of The Partnership Team Ltd, said: "Our Stepping Stones scheme has really taken off. We're pleased it's been such a success.
"The programme gives ex-offenders aged 19 and over the chance to change their lives forever through learning and employment. We're pleased that over 70 people have now benefited from the scheme.
"As well as learning new skills, the course is helping the service users to build confidence, improve communication skills, and above all – to rebuild their lives.
"Working at Lancashire Business Park has really helped with our work. We now have a much larger office and training room, which is important in our business.
"There are also great transport links, excellent networking opportunities with the building being shared by other businesses, and top class facilities.
"It's a fantastic place to do business. I'd recommend it to any firm."
Charlie, one of The Partnership Team Ltd's service users, said: “The Stepping Stones programme helped me to learn genuine life skills and to budget my money. The tutors were helpful and delivered the course well.”
Paul, another successful service user, is considering university after years of offending and substance misuse.
He said: "Because of Stepping Stones, I’m progressing onto a peer mentoring course and hopefully getting further support to go to university. It also helped me to gain full time employment."
