Changes have been made to the management of local policing in South Ribble, Chorley and West Lancashire.
Inspector David Robinson will oversee policing in Chorley whilst Inspector Sue Swift will cover West Lancashire and Inspector Steve Evans will now take on the role in South Ribble.
The changes are as a result of a review of the management structure in Southern Division, which was carried out as part of the Constabulary’s efforts to save £43.75m over the next four years.
The restructure has seen the number of geographic inspectors reduced from six to three - meaning they will each cover a larger geographic area than previously.
Chief Supt Stuart Williams, Divisional Commander for Southern Division, said: “These changes come as part of a Force-wide review, which has given us the opportunity locally to change the way we manage what we do.
“We are confident that the restructure will continue to meet the needs of the public of Lancashire whilst providing a more cost-effective model.
“We will continue to provide 24/7 policing and, along with other agencies, we will continue to focus on reducing and detecting crime and anti-social behaviour and on protecting the most vulnerable members of our communities – as well as providing a high quality service to the public throughout this period of change.”
The review into the management structure is ongoing in the policing division.
The Constabulary has already identified savings of over £41million, largely through reductions to non front-line services, and is now considering options to find the remaining money.
